Welcome to Young Farmers

National AGM in Blackpool!

On the 6th May 14 Wythall YFC members descended on Blackpool for the National Annual Convention.... three days of pure fun! For many this is the highlight of the young farmer year and, as usual, Blackpool did not dissapoint.

Friday was spent registering and collecting as many freebies as possible before hitting the beach and clubs. In the evening it was the usual black tie doo with radio 1s DJ Dev. Wythall YFC proved that young farmers can occasionally scrub up well!

On Saturday morning a quick trip up the Blackpool Tower cleared everyone's heads before venturing back out into town. Fancy dress with a sports day theme was on the cards that evening. We had cheerleaders, rugby players, surfers and even the Jamaican bobslead team pand their coach! This was a fantastic night in the Winter Gardens hosted by Scott Mills and Chris Stark from radio 1.

On Sunday morning it was back to serious business. Rebecca and Dave attended the AGM with other Worcestershire FYFC members. The AGM always proves to be a very interesting meeting, and is a great way to get an insight into how the organisation is run at a national level, and what they do for the young farmer members. The main motion this year was the proposal of a 3% levy increase, which was subsequently passed. Our very own David Fellows from Worcestershire FYFC was also voted in as deputy president representing the West Midlands Area. Congratulations Dave!

The weekend was finished off with the infamous club shirt night where we danced to Greg James from radio 1. Everyone swapped their shirts; we now have shirts from Devon, Lincolnshire and Staffordshire to name a few!

Everyone headed home on Monday with heavy hearts (and heavy heads), not wanting to return home. We all had an absolutely fantastic time in Blackpool! Roll on Torquay 2017!!
