Definitions:

Ewe: Adult female.

Crone: Old ewe.

Gimmer: A female sheep that has been weaned but not yet sheared. i.e. about 6 months to 15 months old.

Hogget: Sheep for fattening in the year after it's birth.

Lamb: Young sheep, under 6 months old.

Ram: Uncastrated adult male.

Yearling: Young sheep between it's first and second shearing.

Teg: Female over 1yr old, selected for breeding.

Tup: Uncastrated male, also known as ram.

Wether: A castrated male sheep.
